Sagar Hospitals launches second branch of diabetes centre

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Bengaluru-based multi-specialty hospital, Sagar Hospitals launched it’s second branch of Sagar centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, a dedicated centre to provide end-to-end solutions for all diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions. The centre was inaugurated by Dr Arun Vadavi, a prominent Diabetologist in Bangalore, at their Banshankari unit.


Colorectal cancer, a clear, present danger

Eight months after Bharat Reddy, 39, had a surgery for piles, his symptoms that also included rectal bleeding did not improve. Doctors did a thorough evaluation of the patient and diagnosed that Reddy had rectal cancer. Physicians at Bengaluru Smiles performed a Low Anterior Resection on Reddy. It has been 15 days and he is recovering now. But doctors say that his case is among the many rising incidents of colorectal cancer.  

Muscular Dystrophy: Rare diseases find a cure at the nerve centre

BENGALURU : India sees about 3,000 to 5,000 cases of Muscular Dystrophy. While England has about five specialised centres to handle such cases, India has none. This has given rise to India’s first paediatric neuromuscular service, called, ‘The Muscle and Nerve Clinic’. The initiative is for patients who suffer from rare diseases that affect their muscles and nerves, and was launched by Bangalore Baptist Hospital, in association with Organisation For Rare Diseases India (ORDI).
