Here are glimpses from World Kidney Day 2024 event held at Sagar Hospitals, Jayanagar, on 14th March 2024.
Dr Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood in the Government of Karnataka, as Chief Guest, Dr C N Manjunath as Guest of Honour, Senior Interventional Cardiologist,Former Director Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Sri Shivanand Tagadura Guest of Honour, President Karnataka Union of Working Journalist, and Hon’ble Sri B. A Muchandi as Guest of Honour (PRL.Dist. Sessions Judge) were present on the occasion.
In the interactive session, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Hiremath, Consultant Nephrologist spoke about the pressing need for collaborative efforts to address the rising prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its associated inequalities in treatment access. Dr. Dilip C Dhanpal, Sr Consultant Urologist and Transplant Surgeon, reflecting on 40 years of service in kidney care, acknowledged the profound transformations witnessed in treatment modalities and patient priorities. From primitive dialysis methods to advanced transplant procedures, the landscape has evolved dramatically.
