Dr. (Lt Col) N Chandra Shekhar began his career in medicine as well in the Indian Armed Forces with an MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 1995. Post-graduation specialisation in Psychiatry was accomplished with an MD degree from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 2002. He has served with the International Peace Keeping Force (United Nations) in Congo from 2011 to 2012.

He has the distinction of practising psychiatry in the Indian Army. He has helped patients cope with psychological distress in situations of war as well as peace. He has served as Consultant In Psychiatry at MONUSCO, Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo and different military Hospitals in India.
